How to play Picks on NFL

Each NFL tournament, you can choose a five-player lineup and try to beat other managers in your division to win extra TP rewards

Picks is a skill-based competition on top of the main tournament game.

To enter Picks, you choose a five-player lineup and try to beat other managers in your division to win rewards.

Build your Picks lineup

  • Your five-player lineup is composed of one player from each position - QB, RB, TE, WR plus a final 'Flex' position where you can play any position except QB.
  • Players are eligible to be picked if you hold at least 1.5% of your active roster value in them, or $500 (whichever is the lower).
  • In some divisions and some tournaments, you can also choose 'loan players' which do not meet this criteria (see Loans and player eligibility below)
  • You can choose a maximum of two players from the same team.
  • Every player has a salary, based on their expected performance, which is fixed for the tournament. You must keep your five picks within the 100-point salary cap.
  • Choose one of your five picks as Captain. Their score is multiplied by 1.5x.
  • Picks works on 'rolling locks' i.e.: a player is locked into your lineup once their game starts. Until then you can swap them out.
  • Your Captain locks once their game starts. Until then, you can change your Captain at any time.
  • You must submit a full, five-player lineup before the end of the tournament to qualify for rewards.

Divisions and Skill Rating

NFL Picks has two regular-season divisions:

  • Bronze: Loan players are available, but Picks rewards are not.
  • Gold: Loan players are not available, and managers can compete for Picks rewards.

Your Picks results affect your Skill Rating. Beating your division’s average Picks Tournament Score increases your Skill Rating, while finishing below it may reduce your Skill Rating.
Managers can be promoted from Bronze to Gold or relegated from Gold to Bronze as their Skill Rating changes.

How Picks rewards work

  • 30% of the overall NFL tournament reward pool is allocated to Picks.
  • Regular-season Picks rewards are available in the Gold division only.
  • To qualify for a Picks reward, you must beat the Gold division’s average Picks Tournament Score.
  • The higher you finish in Gold, the greater your performance weight. Your reward also reflects the eligible value you held in the five players you picked when each player’s game began.
  • When the tournament completes, you can claim your Picks rewards using the Claim rewards button on the home page.

For more information about the reward calculation see: How are Picks rewards calculated?

The road to the Super Bowl

Your regular-season performances also build towards a special NFL Playoff event.

Throughout the regular season, your Picks results will increase or decrease your Skill Rating. When the NFL Playoffs begin, managers above a set Skill Rating threshold will qualify for a special Playoff division.

The Playoff division will work as a survival competition:

  • Beat the Playoff division average to remain in the competition and advance.
  • Finish below the average and you will be eliminated from the Playoff division and return to Gold.
  • The field will become smaller after each round until the remaining managers reach our Super Bowl event.

The Playoff division will offer greater rewards than the regular Gold division, giving you an extra reason to build your Skill Rating and keep beating the average throughout the season.

Loans and player eligibility

  • A player eligibility snapshot is taken at the start of the tournament. This looks at your roster value in the players who are playing in the tournament.
  • Managers in the Bronze division can use free loans - players they don't own - to complete their Picks lineup.
  • Gold division managers must pick from eligible players in their roster.
  • Loaned players count towards your score, division ranking and Skill Rating, but do not contribute towards a Picks reward.
  • Free loans may occasionally be enabled for additional divisions during special events or tournaments with a limited number of active players.
  • When free loans are available, this will be clearly shown in the Picks screen. They will be unlimited and carry no loan-related penalty for that event.
