# Contracts

Each player position comes with contracts by default. Contracts determine whether your shares are **eligible** for tournament rewards.

* Shares start with **8 contracts** by default.
* If a player reaches **0 contracts**, they won’t be entered into upcoming tournaments and are **not eligible for rewards** until extended.
* Contracts are only used when a player enters a real NFL game. If they don’t play, no contract is used.

You can extend contracts through your Roster page or by purchasing more shares.
