# What fees are payable on trades?

| Fees are charged on trades and help to keep player markets healthy. You will always see the fee that applies before confirming a trade.

Most trades use your **standard trading fee**, which is based on your Rep level.

At Neutral Rep, the standard fees are:

| Trade | Standard fee |
| ---- | ---- |
| Sign | 3% |
| Release | 4% |
| Swap | 6% |

* Higher Rep gives you a discount on these standard fees.
* In some circumstances, a higher fee can apply.
* If more than one higher fee applies, **you pay the highest applicable fee – they don't stack.**

| Fees help to protect shared player markets and keep the game fair, with additional market-protection fees going back into supporting the game economy.

---

### Why can my trading fee change?

Player markets on Sport.fun are shared, so your trades can affect the same markets used by other managers.

**A few things can affect the fee you're quoted:**

* **Your Rep:** Rep reflects your participation in Sport.fun and builds as you play the game. Higher Rep means lower standard trading fees.
* **How you're trading:** Whether you're buying, selling or swapping matters, as well as how much you're selling and how quickly.
* **The player and market conditions:** Your fee can be affected by heavy selling into that player's market or when their fixture is live.
* **Playing and winning:** Eligible tournament rewards can give you additional room to sell at standard fees.

|| You don't need to work any of this out yourself. Your trade preview shows the fee and expected proceeds before you confirm.

### Standard fee discounts from Rep

**Rep reflects your participation in Sport.fun.** New managers start at Neutral Rep and can build their Rep by playing the game. Higher Rep gives you bigger discounts on standard trading fees, while Rep below Neutral means higher trading fees.

| Rep level | Standard fee discount |
| ---- | ---- |
| Neutral | – |
| Pro | 20% |
| Pro II | 25% |
| Pro III | 30% |
| World Class | 35% |
| Legend | 40% |

At Legend, for example, standard fees are **1.8% to sign, 2.4% to release and 3.6% to swap**.

### Why are there sometimes higher fees?

**Most trading happens at your standard fee.** Higher fees are there for specific situations where a trade or pattern of trading could have a bigger impact on the game or on other managers. Each protection has a different job:

#### Fixture Fees - protect live competition

A higher fee applies when releasing or swapping out of a player involved in a live fixture.
- A 10% fee applies in football once the player enters the pitch, and in NFL once their game starts.
- The fee falls back to normal over the hour after the player leaves the field/game ends.
- Signing or swapping into the player is unaffected.

#### Player Surge Fees - protect individual player markets

Heavy selling into an individual player's market can temporarily increase the fee for releasing or swapping out of that player.
- Applies when sustained selling puts pressure on that player's market.
- Reduces again as selling pressure eases.

#### Manager Surge Fees - protect against rapid and heavy selling

Selling a significant proportion of your squad or roster over a short period can temporarily increase the fee on further releases.
- For squads or rosters worth $500 or more, around **10% of squad or roster value over seven days** is usually the starting point.
- Manager Surge is assessed separately for each sport. Selling in Football doesn't count towards your NFL Manager Surge activity, and vice versa.
- The 10% figure isn't a fixed weekly allowance: how much you've sold recently and how quickly you've sold it can also affect your quote.
- Your selling is measured over rolling periods. As earlier releases age out, they stop counting and your fee can come back down.
- Swaps don't receive Manager Surge Fees or count towards your Manager Surge selling history.
- Eligible rewards can give you additional room to sell at standard fees, although those releases still count as recent activity.

|| **Swapping is the cheapest way to rearrange your squad or roster** but sometimes you will prefer to sell first and then buy another player later on. We take buying back into account when looking at your recent selling - it can reduce the effect of sales you've already made, but you can't build up extra selling room by buying in advance.

#### Account Market Impact Fees - protect the wider market

These look at the combined effect your completed releases have had on player prices across the market.
- Designed to prevent large selling being spread across multiple player markets to avoid player-specific protections.
- Ordinary small trades shouldn't trigger them.
- Swaps don't receive Account Market Impact Fees or contribute to the account-level calculation, although player-specific fees can still apply.

| These protections aren't designed to stop normal trading. They're there for the situations where activity can have a disproportionate impact on shared markets or the game – and you'll always see the fee before deciding whether to trade.

### What if I want to sell my whole squad or roster?

You can. **There is no lock-up period preventing you from selling your players.**

How quickly you choose to sell can affect the fees and market impact you experience.

* **Selling more gradually** gives earlier selling more time to move out of the relevant rolling periods, which can reduce higher fees.
* **Selling more quickly** is possible, but more of your selling may face higher fees because rapid selling can put greater pressure on shared player markets.

There is no single exit time that applies to every manager. Your squad or roster size, Rep, recent activity, rewards, the player markets you're selling into and how you pace your sales can all affect the outcome.

Your live quote always shows the fee and expected proceeds before you confirm.

|| **Coming soon: Manager Swaps - an alternative option for larger trades.** Where another manager wants the position, managers will be able to agree a price and exchange directly rather than putting the entire trade through the shared player market. Manager Swaps will require an available buyer and an agreed price - they are not a guaranteed exit route.

### Frequently asked questions

#### When will my fee come back down?

* As earlier selling moves out of the relevant rolling periods, its effect reduces or disappears.
* There isn't one fixed waiting time that applies to every manager or trade. Your live quote shows the fee that applies now.

#### I won rewards. Why am I still seeing a higher fee?

* Eligible rewards can give you additional room to sell at standard fees, based on their expected value.
* However, those releases still form part of your recent selling activity. Previous reward-related selling can therefore influence the fee you're quoted later.
* Some rewards are not eligible for selling relief, such as off-season TP.

#### I sold players and then bought others. Is that taken into account?

* Yes, in some circumstances.
* We know reshaping a squad or roster can mean selling first and buying later. Buying after selling can therefore reduce some of that earlier selling when future Manager Surge Fees are assessed.
* It doesn't create an unlimited credit for future selling.

#### Where do additional fees go?

* Additional market-protection fees go back into supporting the game economy.
* We use them to buy shares from player markets, and those shares are returned to the reward pool - helping to support player markets while putting value back into future rewards.

#### Why isn't my displayed squad or roster value guaranteed?

* Your squad or roster represents shares in player markets at their current prices – it isn't a cash balance.
* Selling changes those markets, particularly when the position is large, so the amount you ultimately receive can differ from the value displayed before you start selling.

#### Why can different higher fees apply?

* Different protections deal with different situations.
* Your recent selling, pressure on an individual player's market, the combined market impact of your selling and whether a player's fixture is live can all affect a quote.
* If more than one higher fee applies, you pay the **highest applicable fee** rather than adding the fees together.

#### Will I know the fee before I trade?

* Yes. Your live quote shows the fee and expected proceeds before you confirm any trade.

#### If I want to leave quickly, what will it cost?

- Exit costs depend on your squad or roster value, Rep, recent activity, rewards, the player markets you're selling into and how quickly you choose to sell.
- For example: **A $5,000 squad or roster**. Assuming no price movement or additional rewards, selling gradually over around six weeks could leave you with around $4,225 of the $5,000 starting value after fees.
- Taking longer can reduce fees further; exiting faster may increase them.
- You can keep playing and earning rewards while selling down, which may mean withdrawing your original deposit before you've completely exited.
- **This is illustrative, not a guaranteed exit value or timeframe.** Actual outcomes depend on your circumstances and live quotes.
